My Position....

You ask me what I think of the war
You ask me what I think it was for
You ask me what I think of our policies
My position- my only position is

Chorus:
Kneeling- my position is
Kneeling- my position is kneeling
You ask me what I think of the Right
You ask me what I think of what’s Left
You ask me what I think of your certainties
My position- my only position is
Kneeling- my position is
Kneeling- my position is kneeling

You say I must stand up- for what I believe
But when I stand up- well I’m down on my knees
I’m kneeling- my position is
Kneeling- my position is kneeling

I voted today. Did you??? This is only the second presidential election that I've ever voted in. Kind of embarrassing...BUT, I didn't always know how I felt or where I stood and I mostly just felt uneducated on exactly where each individual stood on things. So I chose not to vote.

I use to live life in a very self-centered manner. Now I live a God centered life. As I've grown "wiser" and more "mature" over the years and as my faith has first of all, come into existence in my life and second grown stronger and deeper, I have seen a change in how I view politics. At one time, like my faith, my political views were non-existent in my life. I have some pretty strong stances against politics and how it all works, but I'll push THAT soapbox aside for now. What I have come to realize is the importance of exercising the privilege that I have as an American and as a woman to actually vote.

I also realize the importance of seeking God's wisdom. I don't think God is a Democrat or a Republican but that He loves all!!! But when I look to God for wisdom, He helps me to see the bigger picture when it is too overwhelming for me to see on my own. When I think of how I feel about certain issues and I feel like such a small voice, I know that through my vote and my prayers for God's guidance and His will that I am making a difference in the future of this country; a future that will be that of all of our children.

Regardless of what the outcome is, I will continue to pray for God's hand in all that happens both here in our country and around the world. My prayers will always be for wisdom, guidance and leadership for all of our local, state, national and world leaders. My prayers will also be for a nation and a world striving for peace.

Regardless of who YOU voted for I pray that we all accept, respect and honor the final decision. Not everyone is going to think alike, feel alike or vote alike. That's what makes us each unique individuals. But when the election is over and we are able to put our differences aside and stand united as a nation, that's what can make us strong Americans.

So, do you want to know who I voted for??? Well, I'm not going to tell you. You can try to guess if you'd like. But my friend Sarah put it best when she said, "Don't assume that I am a Republican just because I am a Christian. Don't assume that I am a Democrat just because I am poor. Basically, just stop assuming." To me, the two most important things are that I voted and that I will continue to "kneel" for what I believe in all that I do.

You know what's funny? I've voted in a few elections, and in the last few I've prayed before-hand and then when I'm leaving the polls, I can't remember who I voted for, like somehow I end up in a weird voter's trance or something!

No matter what happens, God can use whoever is in office, "and we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them."

Well said! Thanks for helping us keep it in perspective. As I said on My Life With Dogs, when it all comes down to it, we are all a part of something with a much higher purpose than what party takes over the White House and to that purpose we must devote our energy.
